Don’t you just love fall weather? It’s my favorite time of year. Where we live fall is a beautiful time to be outside. Having an outdoor Halloween party is a great idea. Here are some really fun outdoor Halloween party ideas.

One of the things I love about having a party outside is that you can have more guests because you have more space. You aren’t limited by your dining room and kitchen space to try to squeeze people into your home.

 1. Backyard

You can have your outdoor Halloween party at your home. Do you have a backyard that you could fit a few tables in? If your yard is too small, try your driveway.

Having a clear space is a great start for a location for an outdoor Halloween party. Another option would be to co-host with a friend. If you have a neighbor or friend that has a larger yard, plan your outdoor party together and have the party in their backyard.

2. Neighborhood Green Space/Cul-de-sac

Having a community or neighborhood outdoor Halloween party is a great idea. Do you have a shared green space in your neighborhood? A park or green space in your neighborhood serves as a great location for an outdoor Halloween party.

If there isn’t a green space a cul-de-sac works great too. Invite your neighbors and gather at the end of the cul-de-sac for a spooky good time.

3. Pumpkin Patch/ Corn Maze

Another great outdoor space to have an outdoor Halloween party is a corn maze or pumpkin patch. We have quite a few pumpkin patches and corn mazes in our area.

Often the best ones to choose for your outdoor Halloween party are smaller. We love small family-owned pumpkin patches and corn mazes. They often cater to smaller parties and events.

6. DIY Invitations

Our favorite outdoor Halloween parties are the ones with our neighbors. We don’t have everyone’s cell number on our street so we like to hand out invitations personally.

It does take some time to go to each person’s house but it’s a great way to extend the invitation and personally invite each neighbor. This bat invitation is easy to make, I love involving my kids in our party planning. Just print and fold these cute invitations are you are ready to invite your friends and neighbors.

7. Printed Invitations

You can mail invitations to your guests as well. Everyone enjoys getting mail. My favorite way to print invitations is to save them as a jpeg and then print them at Walgreens. I can almost always find a promo code online making printing the invitations affordable. They are printed on photo paper so they are high quality and look great.

Walgreens also has pre-designed invitations that you can order. Just fill in your information and get them printed on high-quality cardstock.

8. Potluck

When having a community outdoor Halloween party or neighborhood party, a potluck works great. It’s hard to be in charge of all the food, and knowing what everyone would like to eat can be tricky. If you have a potluck everyone brings something and no one goes hungry.

It’s fun to try new foods and to get recipes from all the yummy food that shows up at your outdoor Halloween party. Having a theme for your potluck is a great idea. It will help your guests decide what to bring. You could ask everyone to bring their favorite fall food or you could do soups and salads.

9. Chili-Cook-Off

We have been hosting a Chili Cook-off for years every October. It’s our favorite tradition and one of the best foods for fall. It is a great food option for an outdoor Halloween party. Invite your friends to bring their favorite chili. You might want to write on the invitations for those who bring chili to bring a ladle to serve it with.

If you have a power strip near your party location, that works best so people can keep their chilis warm. Another thing to include on the invitation is that if a guest doesn’t want to enter the chili contest, they should still come because you need eaters to determine the best chili.

You want everyone to feel welcome to come to your event even if they aren’t chili chiefs. As the host, you can provide classic chili toppings such as cheese, sour cream, chips, and cornbread. Have small slips of paper and a jar to collect everyone’s votes.

At the end of the dinner tally up votes and see whose chili was voted as the best. Have a small prize for the winner of the Chili-Cook-Off. You can use a unique ladle or a cute witch spoon holder. It’s a fun and unique Halloween celebration.

A hot chocolate bar is another great food option at your outdoor Halloween party. Set up a table with lots of different hot chocolate toppings. Here are some of our favorites, mini marshmallows, caramel sauce, creamer, whip cream, peppermint bites, and mini chocolate chips.

Make sure to have plenty of roasting sticks. If you have young children request that parents help their children roast and prepare their marshmallows.

We love to roast starburst too. Another fun item to add to your smores bar is fudge cookies. Instead of the original graham and chocolate, we just smash our mallow in between the E.L Fudge cookies for a yummy and unique smores treat.

You might consider having plates available for guests to gather their smores supplies, and for easy stacking of ingredients. Check out all these fun Halloween plate ideas.
